Renaissance Academy Varsity Knights won big over Lincoln Leadership 22-2 on Friday at Friendship Field.
Lincoln Leadership opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two walks. Lincoln Leadership first got on the board when Jayde R drew a walk, scoring one run.
Renaissance Academy Varsity Knights flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the first, scoring 11 runs on two hits to take the lead, 11-2. The biggest blow in the inning was a triple by Jenna Minnick following a 6-pitch at-bat that drove in two.
Renaissance Academy Varsity Knights scored 11 runs on six hits in the bottom of the second inning. Paula Munoz-Jimenez grounded out, scoring one run, Ryann Gephart drew a walk, scoring one run, Grace Trexler singled, scoring four runs, riley Driscoll drew a walk, scoring one run, a steal of home scored two runs, Angelina Tamburino singled, scoring one run, and a steal of home scored one run.
Minnick started in the circle for Renaissance Academy Varsity Knights. The starter surrendered zero hits and two runs over three innings, striking out nine and walking seven. Koryaliz S stepped in the circle first for Lincoln Leadership. The starting pitcher allowed eight hits and 22 runs over two innings, striking out two and walking 17.
Trexler drove the middle of the lineup, leading Renaissance Academy Varsity Knights with three runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-2 on the day. Minnick went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Renaissance Academy Varsity Knights in hits. Renaissance Academy Varsity Knights had patience at the plate, piling up 17 walks for the game. Gephart, Gabby Anderoni, Driscoll, Payton Romano, Tamburino, Trexler, and Ella Grenier led the team with two free passes each. Gephart, Anderoni, Minnick, Driscoll, Romano, Tamburino, Trexler, and Grenier each stole multiple bases for Renaissance Academy Varsity Knights. Renaissance Academy Varsity Knights ran wild on the base paths, tallying 27 stolen bases for the game. Renaissance Academy Varsity Knights were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Anderoni made the most plays with nine.
Jerlissa M and R were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Lincoln Leadership. S paced Lincoln Leadership with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, collecting seven walks for the game.
